Menthol crystals can be melted and mixed into oils or dissolved in alcohol as part of your own DIY recipes. The recommended usage amount is 0.5–2% of the product's weight. Menthol can irritate the skin, so it is advisable to first perform a small patch test. Menthol should not be used in amounts exceeding 5% of the product's weight and should not be applied to sensitive skin areas, such as near the eyes or directly under the nose.
