Tuomaanjuoma – Hot drink seasoning
The legendary Tuomaanjuoma from the Hämeenlinna Medieval Society is now easy to make at home! This versatile spice blend will make your hot drink unforgettable. Suitable for use with apple juice or soft drinks, for example.
Recipe:
- Choose apple juice (1 l) or soft drink (1.5 l, no light versions) as a base.
- Heat the drink almost to boiling in a saucepan.
- Add 1 spice bag or 5–6 tablespoons of spice mix/liter. We recommend steeping bags or straining.
- Simmer the drink for 10 minutes, do not boil.
- If desired, add fresh ginger, cinnamon sticks, star anise, or other Christmas spices.
- Garnish with apple or orange slices.
Tempering: Add alcohol only when serving to preserve the aromas.
