This unique work belongs to the Tarot de Besançon tradition, named after the French city where such cards were originally printed. Baptiste-Paul Grimaud produced this deck between 1891 and 1899, and interestingly replaces the High Priestess and Hierophant arcana with the figures of Juno and Jupiter. This deck represents an important branch in the Marseille Tarot family tree, being part of a long-standing and still very popular French tradition. Like the rest of the Anima Antiqua line, this one is available in a limited edition of 3,999 pieces.
